From December, 2018 on, the tax refund policy has been officially implemented in Nanning, Guilin and Fangchenggang three cities and it may be expanded to other cities in Guangxi Province in the future. In the three pilot cities, there are 33 tax refund shops all together covering 21 categories of products including clothing, shoes and hats, cosmetics, jewelry, watches, electrical appliances, stationery, sporting goods.

The foreign visitors and travelers from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan can enjoy the tax refund policy.
  1. The visitors need to stay in Mainland China continuously for no more than 183 days
2. The minimum cost by one visitor in one tax free shop each day has to reach RMB 500.
3. The purchased goods haven’t been used yet.
4. The buyers should leave China within 90 days after the purchase date.
5. The goods purchased for tax free should leave China together with their buyers.

The tax refund rate is 11% and the tax refund amount shall be the total expense multiplies the tax refund rate.

The currency of tax refund is RMB and two ways are available, cash or bank transfer. If the amount is less than CNY 10,000, you can choose either way you like. If it exceeds CNY 10,000, only the bank transfer is available.

Visitors can get the tax refund in the exit ports of the city, mostly in the airport after joint inspection and customs verification.

At present, besides Guangxi Province, the rebates policy has also been adopted in many other Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Qingdao, Jiangsu Province, Hebei Province, Shaanxi Province, Yunnan Province, Anhui Province, Sichuan Province, Liaoning Province, Fujian Province, Hainan Province as well as Harbin, Heihe, Suifenhe in Heilongjiang Province.
