1. Silk Road International Ski Resort (0991-5911111) (opening time: 10:00-19:00)

This resort is the biggest in northwest and one of the best ski resorts in China. It is located at PingXiLiang Village, ShuiXiGou Town where you can reach by direct tourist bus. The buses are available at 09:00 at Railway Bureau in Beijing Road, at 09:30 at You Hao Parkson Shopping Mall and at 10:00 at Haojiaxiang Supermarket of Qiyijiangyuan. The return bus is at 17:00. The drive takes about 40 minutes and a round-trip ticket is CNY30.

The altitude here is from 1800 meters to 2500 meters and the average temperature in winter is around minus 10 degrees. The resort is equipped with 8 trails, 3 sets of sightseeing cable cars to an ancient forest, 5 sets of ropeways, a skateboard field, a professional skating rink and many other entertainment facilities.

Silk Road International Ski Resort is perfect for skilled skiers, but the novice can also have fun with the help of the professional coaches. The general expense is about CNY300 per person per day.

2. BaiYun International Ski Resort (0991-3857028) (opening time: 10:00-18:00)

BaiYun Ski Resort is located in Tiger Valley, Dongwan Village, Shuixigou Town - about 45kms from Urumqi. You could take the tourist bus at Xidan Shopping Mall or Qiyijiangyuan Shopping Mall.

This child-friendly resort has a vertical drop of only 1000 meters with gently rolling hillsides and few drop-offs. There are 13 trails, specially designed and individually designated for high-speed, moderate-speed, novices, elders and children. Besides the normal ski activities, you can also experience snow flying saucer, snow motorcycle, parachute, snow CS and other some entertainments. The general expense is about CNY150 per person per day.

3. Xuelianshan Golf and Ski (0991-4681866)

Xuelianshan Golf and Ski is located on East WenQuan Road, ShuiMoGou Scenic Area. It is the closest ski resort to the city-center, only 6 km away. You could take the public buses No. 34, 104 and 106 to get there.

There are various activities here: ski-jumping, ski-tubing, snow cart/tank/bike, speed skating, figure skating, hot-air ballooning, snow sculpture, outdoor tennis, etc. Everyone can find their own favorite thing to do here. The average expense is about CNY150 per person per day, but only the resort's rental ski equipment is allowed here.

4. WeiSiTe Happy Town Ski Resort (0991-4886088):

This resort is also on East WenQuan Road, ShuiMoGou Scenic Area and is the terminal stop of public buses No. 104/106. It is fully equipped and the slopes are lighted at every 19:00.

As the largest light ski resort in northwest China, WeiSiTe Ski Resort integrates catering, accommodation, entertainment and skiing. You can enjoy the fabulous night scenery of Urumqi here.
