Sayram Lake Cycling Race

Sayram Lake, the largest alpine lake as well as the highest (2073 meter) lake in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, means "blessing" in the Kazakh language. First held successfully in 2007, the Sayram Lake Cycling Race has been upgraded from an amateurish race to a national professional race in 2013 like the Qinghai Lake International Cycling Race. Hereunder, we would like to show you the five sections and the route of the race. You may follow it just like you were at the Race. Also, different landforms and picturesque view will accompany you all way along.

First Section of 128KM:
On the first day, the starting point on the first section is the gate of the "Jing He Ecosystem Park" which has an average altitude of 509 meters. The route is the gate of "Jing He Ecosystem Park" - Corps No. 82 -Corps No. 90 - Corps No. 89 - Junken Road in Corps No. 5 Shuanghe City - Sayram Lake Road in Corps No. 5 Shuanghe City - Aibi Lake Road in Corps No. 5 Shuanghe City - Route 205 - Railway Station - Wulandabusen Border Checkpoint - Youhao Road in Alashankou - Tianshan Street in Alashankou - Municipal Government of Alashankou. Generally speaking, the road condition is good in all. The roads are flat with many cross ways. In the past race, there was a 5KM-long "Honorary Ride".

Second Section of 80KM:
Today's route is Alashankou city center - Youhao Road of Alashankou - Wulandabusen Border Checkpoint - Route 205 - Wutubulage Town - Dongfanghong Avenue - Qingdeli Street in Bole City - North Beijing Road in Bole City - South Beijing Road in Bole City - Bozhou Comprehensive Gymnasium. Kind notice to bring enough water with you. Generally speaking, the roads are flat with a complex of mountain roads, steep gradients and sharp twists, which has made the downgrades perilous. Also, make sure you get well-prepared as the relief and altitude greatly changes along the way.

Third Section of 115KM: 
The starting point of the third section is Bozhou Comprehensive Gymnasium. You will pass through South Beijing Road, Sayram Lake in Bole City, South Bowen Road, Tuosihuertu village, Angelige town, Chagantunge village, Corps No. 88, Mengkete Street in Wenquan County and finally arrive at Wenquan County Gymnasium. This section is the hill climb and it is quite hard today. The altitude will increased from 500m to 1360m gradually. But the breathtaking scenery will accompany you along the way. When you reach the top of the hill, you will overlook the picturesque Sayram Lake.

Fourth Section of 80KM:
Ride along the road and you will finally get to Sayram Lake today. The route is Cultural Center in Wenquan County - Mengkete Street in Wenquan County - South Bowen Road - Ansai Road - North Gate of the Sayram Lake - Moon Bay. Roads of this section are flat with changes on the relief or the altitude. Be careful of the long steep gradients and many sharp twists.

Fifth Section of 65KM:
It is the easiest and the most enjoyable day today. The route is South Gate of Sayram Lake - Xihai Grassland - Dianjiangtai - North Gate of Sayram Lake - Moon Bay. You will cycle the half circle of the lake from south gate to Moon Bay. Roads around the Lake are flat with no obviously change on the relief or the altitude.
