Most of these city will be in warm or hot summer. The temperature of Xi'an and Beijing could reach 25C. Successive rainfall may happen as well, so the days are comfortable for traveling.
Lhasa and Chengdu should be less hotter than Xi'an and Beijing due to their good locations. You may need a thin jacket when you were there.
Shanghai and Yangtze also has high temperature, but most of the days are cloudy and humid due to the plenty of water in the air. Anyway, you'd better pay attention to the up-to-date weather forecast before leaving.

It really depends on what you'll buy and where you'll buy. There are low-priced items as well as high-priced ones in every city. For instance, items in Wangfujing Dajie, Beijing(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/beijing/shopping/wangfujing-dajie/) are usually high-priced while those in Beijing Wholesale Markets(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/cityguides/beijing/shopping/wholesale-markets/) are low-priced. If you want the low-priced ones, go to the whole-market. In my opinion, Beijing and Shanghai have more items.

Hi, the boats leave from Suzhou at 17:30 and arrives in Hangzhou at 06:00 the next day. The boats are luxuary cruise ships having three or four star standard double rooms or four people rooms. You can take bus no.1, 7, 101, 103, 49 or 61 and get off at South Gate or Renmin Bridge Station, and take bus Tourism Line 2, 50, 59 or 65 and get off at the dock. Buy the ticket at the dock office directly. Usually, the boat tickets are available two hours before the sailing. Or call 0512-65206681/65205720 for booking, but I'm not sure whether the speaker can speak English to you.
