Stand in front of the tower and admire the Islamic-style architecture

The Emin Minaret stands 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) east of Turpan. It is the largest ancient tower in Xinjiang and the only Islamic tower of China. Built in 1777, the Minaret was in honor of Emin Khoja, the heroic Turpan general of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). We have intention to visit Xinjiang from 19th to 30th Sept but we still cannot decide to go or not to go (is it safe there?) The cheapest air fare from Kuala Lumpur to Urumqi is China Southern Airline transit in Guang Zhou.

Hi Ms Too, are you joining a tour agency from Kuala Lumpur for your trip to Xinjang? I am suppose to joint but the dates are not suitable and I found the fares is a bit too expensive. Anyway, I am planning to visit Northern Xinjang in September 2010.

I am thinking of going to Xinjiang (north route)in last week of October this year. Some friends said it will be snowing and a lot of places are shut down. Is this the case?

October is not that late. It has frost and you should keep warm. If possible, suggest you go there during late September to Early October, although the best time to visit there is in Summer.
