Ramoche Temple was first built in the middle of 7th Century. It stands at the north end of the famous pedestrian street of Lhasa, Barkhor Street within one kilometer away from Johkang Temple. Now it is the Gyuto Tantric college of Esoteric Sect for Gelug monks to pursue Vajrayana Buddhism. A life-sized statue of 12-year-old Sakyamuni is preserved in the monastery.
