Located at 292 Changjiang Road, the Former Office of Provisional President Dr. Sun Yat-sen (also called Presidential Palace) is currently the biggest Chinese modern history museum. The palace has a more than 600-year old history. From the Opium War in 1840 to the libration of Nanjing in 1949, it has always been the center of China's political and military affairs. Many important people frequently came here.

Hi, may I know where can I go for cheap shopping and flea markets and places of interest for kids, is the nanjing zoo recommended, thanks.

you can go to the downtown,XinJiekou or HuNan road,there are many big stores ,you can buy everything you want...and for the kids ,i think you may go to the Red hill zoo.

Ni hao! I will be in Nanjing for just one day/night, arriving around 10AM and leaving the next morning before 9AM... given that I won't be able to see everything worthy, what would you recommend as "essential"? Xie xie! :)

I recommend the Confucius Temple, which is the center of scenery along Qinhuai River. There are fairs near around and you can take boat to see the river bank old buildings at night. It is in the south part of the city center.

No flights as I know, because they are so close to each other. If going by bullet train, Nanjing can be reached within 2.5 hours from Shanghai and Hangzhou can be reached within 1.5 hours.
