Besides the exquisite five pagodas, there are also 1560 embossment buddha images, thus also named as Thousand Buddha Pagoda.

The Five-Pagoda Temple was originally built to the southeast of Hohhot during the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty. Just as its name implies, there are five square dagobas positioned on the pedestal of the 16-meter's pagoda. There is no airport bus from Hohhot airport to Hohhot railway station. You can take a taxi to get to the railway station. The cost is around CNY24. Also you can take the public bus No.12 to get to Halebute and then transfer to Bus No.2 to get to the railway station.

You can fly to Beijing and then take train or air plane to Hohhot. Air ticket is not expensive at this moment, I believe it is more or less the same in September,2010. Mid-Augest to end of September is the best tome to visit Inner Mongolia. You may miss the Nadam Fair held in lunar July. You can visit grassland around the city, Dazhao Monastery, Wuta Temple, the Great Mosque, etc.
