They are located in the northeast of the Forbidden City. The Pavilion of Pleasant Sounds (Changyinge) is the biggest stage for performing operas inside the Forbidden City. The Hall for Viewing Opera (Yueshilou) is to its north. It was where the imperial families and court ministers enjoyed the operas. Nowadays, the Imperial Opera Show is held here, where visitors can see costumes, stage properties, music instrucments, scripts, pictures of other famous stages, and paintings of opera scenes and royal families and officals enjoying the operas.
