Gate of Divine Prowess Pictures

The 31 meters high gate has three openings and a tower. In the gate tower, bells and drums were kept to tell time; however, the bells were not used when the emperor was in the Forbidden City. It was an important entrance for daily passage, both in and out of the Forbidden City. The empress would go through the central opening when she went to worship the silkworms God. Selected girls would enter into the Forbidden City through this door. In 1942, the last emperor, Puyi, went out of the Palace from this door.
