Japan Weather in July

As in the middle of summer and rainy season continues, Japan weather in July is muggy with high temperature and high humidity. The average temperature reaches 23-30℃ (73.4-86℉) throughout the country, but cooler Hokkaido is at 19-26℃ (66.2-78.8℉) in the north. The rainfall may reach as much as 170mm in Japan in July, however, the rainy season would be past in middle or the end of July, then it will turns to burning hot. Besides, Hokkaido is always a great summer resort destination where hasn’t affected by the rainy season.
 The rainy season, starts in June, accounts for about two-thirds of July around central and southern Honshu, while it would be over until the late days in the northeast. The rains during rainy season are not heavy in Japan, but after the rainy season, there might be a few downpours in summer. If you stay in the southern or central part of Honshu, you may encounter such a shower during the last third of July.
  Breathable summer clothes are optimal while travelling in Japan in July, as the humidity is pretty high especially in the rainy season. T-shirt, short shirt, light pants, cropped pants, long dress, etc. are all proper. As in rainy season, you can take a portable umbrella or raincoat with you. Sunglasses and sunhat are also needful when there is no rain.
  Shoulder Season

Although July is a hot summer month in Japan, it can regarded as a shoulder season with passionate visitors in the summer vacation.
 It’s unnegligible to go to a beach in July, the summer days, moreover Japan has a long coastline with many stunning beaches. You could find fantastic beaches in the seaside cities like Tokyo, Kamakura, Fukuoka and even approachable offshore islands in a short distance. You can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and many water and beach sports heartily.
 The climbing trails on Mt. Fuji are opened since early July, which allows mountaineers to hike up to the summit crater. Yoshida Trail starting from Mt. Fuji 5th Station is the most-visited trail on the north side of the mountain, well-facilitied. You should prepare thick clothes to wear as climbing high onto Mt. Fuji, and make complete preparation to cope with possible problems such as altitude sickness.

However, as the beginning of the two-month climbing season, July is not the best time for mountaineering for the rains. When the rainy season is over, the peak time of climbing Mt. Fuji comes.
  Although the rainy season is drawing to a close in Japan in July, it is necessary to take rain gear like umbrella and raincoat with you. Sunscreen is also indispensable on the summer days.
 When you are in the site of a summer firework show, you would find there are many visitors. Take care of yourselves and find a good spot to see the firework show as early as possible.
