Tour Guide - Sara Zhang

Hi, there!
Sara Zhang on the Great Wall
Sara Zhang on the Great Wall
I am Sara, who is likely to be your tour guide in Beijing. I look young, but I am a veteran tour guide and I have been working for TravelChinaGuide since 2007. From my appearance, people may think I am still young, so "how old are you, little Sara?" is always the first question many of my lovely clients ask when they first meet me. At this time, I would tell them ‘seriously’ that "little Sara" was born in 1981, the Year of Rooster according to the Chinese zodiac. And they all gape at me," Are you kidding?" Although it is hard to believe, it is true. I was born in the Year of Rooster.

In Chinese culture, people think that if a person was born in the year of a certain animal, he or she has a similar character with the animal. Well, what does it say about the rooster? The rooster people are diligent, patient, considerate, joyful and devoted to work. They love traveling because of their courageous and adventurous spirit. They are deep thinkers. So is Sara!

I love traveling during my daily life, which gives me many chances to explore every corner of the world. I love to think, which keeps me calm as I ponder about the world after my travels. Combining my two favorite activities in my work makes the potentially boring working time interesting and enjoyable, although working may be insufferable for many office staff. Diligent, patient, and hardworking are other important characters that make my service to my clients different from others’. I not only accompany my clients to explore different attractions, but also take care of their daily life during their traveling.

I still remember that when I was about to graduate from university, my mother asked what I would do in the future, and I told her that the job I was interested in should be office-working-free, lots of traveling, and the most importantly, using my language skill for making friends. So I chose to be an English tour guide. This is the 11th year after my graduation, and I still cannot find a better job than being a guide.

China is a beautiful country with her marvelous history and mysterious culture. I always define my whole career as an ambassador who stands exactly across the various cultures. The whole world now needs harmony and peace. I believe that harmony and peace will appear only when cross-cultural misunderstandings become fully eliminated. In this case, my role is not only to take my guests around in the scenic spots, but also to bridge the gaps between various cultures and enhance mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign tourists. Tourism is considered as a sun-rising industry, and I always feel proud of being part of it. I am standing in this great era of the century, telling old stories and facts to our distinguished guests from afar, hand-in-hand with every visitor who has traveled with me, and creating a great picture of world peace and harmony.

Welcome to China! Welcome to Beijing! Sara will be right here waiting for you!
