I'm Rex and I come from Sanmenxia, a small city situated between Xi'an and Luoyang. It used to be the ancient capital of China hundreds of years ago and that spurred my interest in history.
Although considered an emigrant but I love working in Guilin. I was a teacher and stayed in Yangshuo for half a year before becoming a guide and since then, have worked in Guilin for more than 4 years. I’ve learned a lot about Guilin and Yangshuo and made many friends here. I love this area and I am happy to be a local guide here.

Another reason I enjoy guiding is the connection between tourists from different countries and Guilin. I’m glad that am doing my part. Different experiences always start from the all important introduction of local traditions. As there are many ethnic groups other than the Han people, it is only natural that comes with varied cultures so diverse from each other. The landscape here is also typical and all these make Guilin a special city, with beautiful scenery, clear rivers, magnificent caves, and warmhearted people. I think everyone who comes here would fall in love with this city. I've led groups to Yangshuo many times, but I just don't feel adequate enough due to the beautiful landscape and good atmosphere. After the Impression of Liu Sanjie performance, feedback from tourists is always positive as it was the first time they witnessed such illuminated show. So if you get a chance to come to Guilin and Yangshuo, don’t miss it.
At times, I talked about other subjects like family and cooking, which I enjoy very much. And when the topic on family arises, I would show the picture of my son to my group. He is a very cute baby and the picture is stored in my cell phone so that I can see him everyday. When opportunity arises, I also share the cooking experience with them too, including information on different materials, different preparations and cooking methods, etc. In short, I try to give them as much detail information of the locals as I possibly can.
The best way to learn about a place is by direct contact with the locals. Tourists am sure are curious to find out how the locals live their life but they don’t have the chance to do so. Hence, I feel that I can fulfill this gap when they come to visit. I will be there at your service.
