The general information:
Turkmenistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia with an area of 488,100 square kilometers. 80 percent of the territory is covered by the desert. It is one of the driest districts in the world. Russia is widely spoken though Turkoman is the official language.

It has a rich storage of minerals including the petroleum, natural gases, iodine together with the rare metals. It depends on the oil and gases in industry and the cotton and wheat in agriculture. In view of its condition, Energy and light textile industry are largely propelled; the economic growth is on a rise stably.

 Visa information:
All foreigners need to apply for the visa to enter Turkmenistan. Prior to being issued the tourist visa, the foreigners need to get the visa support (also called the Invitation Letter) from the legal travel agency in Turkmenistan first. The Immigration Service of the Turkmenistan processes the visa after receiving the visa support application from the travel agency. Any application will be declined without persuasive excuses. Afterwards, the visa support will be faxed to the embassy or consulate of the Turkmenistan where the tourist visa is issued.

To apply for the Turkmenistan visa, the followings are required: the Invitation Letter, 2 photos of the same size as the passport's, the valid passport (at least valid for 6 months before entry), fees of application of the visa, completed application form.

 The bilateral relationship:
On December 27, 1991, the independence of Turkmenistan was admitted by China. On January 6, 1992, the diplomatic relationship was set up between the two sides. The officials have paid the frequent visits and kept close touch and cooperation in the different fields after the establishment.
