Heilongjiang Weather
Naturally, Heilongjiang holds a higher temperature in its southern part than that in the north. The plains in the west and northeast is warmer than the mountains in the southeast and north as well. The difference of rainfall between south and north is not big, but that between west and east is obvious. The eastern area gets more rains then the west, and the southwest gets the least.
Best Time to Visit Heilongjiang
July to September, and January to February are the best times for travelling to Heilongjiang. During the former, Heilongjiang is a great summer resort with a cooler weather compared with other China travel destinations. During the latter, it’s the peak tourism season for winter activities, like enjoying snow and skiing. Harbin Ice and Snow Festival is just held in the months, where you can see many incredible ice and snow sculptures. Because the winter in Heilongjiang is very long, November and December, even March, are also OK to experience the snow fun.

Heilongjiang Climate - Seasons & Travel Advice
Meteorologically, spring and autumn in Heilongjiang are very short, and the two seasons can even be negligible, while Heilongjiang winter is pretty long and freezing.
Spring (Apr - May)
Heilongjiang temperature increases very fast in spring generally. However, it’s quite fluctuating at the same time. The largest fluctuation may cause the temperature drop of 10℃ (50℉). So you need to change your clothes on time according to the Heilongjiang weather. Meanwhile, it’s dry and windy during the time. You can see azalea flowers all over Great Khingan Range and Wudalianchi Global Geopark, cherry blossoms by Khanka Lake, and apricot blossoms around Jingpo Lake Scenic Area...as well.
What to Wear: thick jacket, sweater, thick pants... for early spring; up to May, long-sleeved shirts, jackets and clothes similar are suitable.
Summer (Jun - Aug)
Compared with other provinces, Heilongjiang summer is not hot at all, and can be described as warm. The average summer temperature there is about 18℃ (64℉), which is the coolest place in China. Thus Heilongjiang becomes a popular place for summer holidays, away from the intense heat. Wudalianchi Global Geopark, Jingpo Lake Scenic Area, Tangwanghe National Park, and forest zones are the sought-after sites for a pleasant summer trip. At Beiji Village in Mohe, you can experience the polar days, and if you are lucky, you could see the gorgeous northern lights there.

Autumn (Sep - Oct)
Both the rainfall and temperature decrease in autumn, and the temperature difference between day and night increases. The meteorological data of Heilongjiang climate shows the average temperature in mid-September is around 10℃ (50℉). When October comes, it’s as low as 0℃ (32℉) in the northern area. You may go to Heilongjiang in late Sept. for the autumn leaves on Greater Khingan and Lesser Khingan Mountains.
What to Wear: long-sleeved shirt, wind coat, jacket... in the daytime. If you go outdoors at night or go there in the late autumn, sweater even down coat are necessary to keep warm.
Winter (Nov - Mar)
Based on Heilongjiang weather, the temperature is -30~-15℃ (-22~5℉) at average during winter. White snow covers the land generally, thus appreciating snow or ice sculptures and skiing are the most popular activities. You can join Harbin Ice and Snow Festival, to enjoy the fantastic ice world at Zhaolin Park, Ice and Snow World, Sun Island, etc. Yabuli Ski Resort is the best site to ski. To enjoy snow scenery, you may go to China Snow Town and Beiji Village. During this time, you should be sure to keep warm and protect yourselves against cold winds and snowstorms.
