Dunhuang weather in August is characterized by high temperature, and plenty of sunshine. Temperature varies from 17°C(63°F) to 33°C(91°F) or more at mid-day. Things to Do

When night approaches, tourists could go to the Dang River Reservoir to watch the colourful lights that decorated the Dang River Bridge. There are also fountains and water-curtain movies shown at the reservoir, attracting tourists and locals alike.

When visiting Dunhuang, camping in the desert is a must do activity. The scenery of the vast starry sky on clear nights is an awesome and unforgettable sight. At the same time, visitors could watch overwhelmingly the sunset and sunrise.

Mogao Caves issues only 6,000 tickets per day. As August is the peak travel season, tickets are therefore always in great demand. Generally, tickets are on sale 30 days prior to the visit date So, visitors had better book them as early as possible.
