It may because the passport number would be different. It is suggested to contact the airline directly to confirm if there are some other ways to book.

Hi, generally, there is no problem as long as your passport valid for at least 3 months from the date of entry.

You are eligible for the 24-hour visa-free transit so you don't need any visa.

Asked by EUGENIA from IRUN / SPEIN | Aug. 24, 2023 04:03Reply
Do I need a transit visa?
I will travel to Japan. On the way back to Barcelona, I will have a 24-hour stopover in China.
I have a Moldovan passport, but I live in Spain.
I need to know, if for this 24h stopover in China, a visa is needed.
I have consulted with the Chinese consulate and Embassy, but they have told me that I have to request this information from the airline.
Can you tell me if I need a visa or not for this stopover? We're not going to leave the airport.
Thanks a lot

If your stopover in China is more than 24 hours, then you do need to obtain a China visa in advance. Or you are eligible for the 24-hour visa-free transit.
