Do not miss this city if you are fond of pandas or if you are travelling with young kids. Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding and Bifengxia Panda Reserve Base are the two best places if you want to be in close proximity with these lovely pandas. In addition, Chengdu has many other amazing sites that should not be missed, like the Leshan Giant Buddha, Emeishan- one of the four most sacred Buddhist Mountains and the fairyland Jiuzhaigou Valley. There are interesting places in the downtown area too, such as the Jinsha Site Museum, Wuhou Temple, Jinli Street, Dujiangyan Irrigation Project, Wide and Narrow Alley, etc.

There are two railway stations: Chengdu North Station (Chengdu Railway station) and Chengdu East Station.
The north train station is located at the North Second Ring Road. It is reachable by Metro Line 1.
The East Station is situated at Wanke Road, Chenghua District. Most bullet trains would stop at this station, and it is reachable by Metro Line 2.

What is the best time to see the pandas? 
The best time to visit the pandas is before 9:30 am when they are more active, especially during the summer from June to September. At noon in the summer, the pandas will hide in their air-conditioned rooms to rest. How much time do I need to visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding? It takes about 3 to 4 hours if you visit all venues by walking. If you choose to take the electric sightseeing car (for which the price is CNY10.00 per person) it takes about 1-2 hours depending on your interests. I booked a car for a day tour to the Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. Can I start at 10:00? The best time to visit the pandas is before 09:30. It is better for you to start the visit at 08:30. Is there any problem if I need the driver to take me to the airport directly after I visit the Panda Base? No problem. But you need to consult with your operator for the exact price. I booked a vehicle for the tour to Leshan Giant Buddha, and then need to catch my flight that leaves at 18:30. Is this workable? We do not suggest you arrange the tour this way. The Leshan Giant Buddha is 160km away and it takes about 2 hours to drive there. If unfortunately you encounter a traffic jam, you might miss your flight. It is better to have a full day to visit the Giant Buddha. Do you have car rental service for Jiuzhaigou Valley? Yes, we can arrange that for you. However the car rental fee in the Jiuzhaigou area changes a lot, so you need to consult with your operator for the exact price. I will take a train to Chongqing for my Yangtze River Cruise tour. What time do you think is appropriate for the train leaving from Chengdu? You are advised to book a train that leaves before 14:00. There are many trains from Chengdu to Chongqing, leaving nearly every 20 minutes. It takes about 2 hours for the trip. In our experience, you may able to check in for the cruise only after 16:00. But you can arrive earlier to explore the city a bit.
