Golden Lotus
The golden lotus in Golden Lotus Square consists of a stem plus several petals and stamens. The base is made of 23 red granite stones. They are in the shape of three lotus leaves, symbolizing the Macau Peninsula, Taipa Island and Coloane Island. In front is a small plaque with the inscriptions "Lotus Flower in Full Bloom", "People’s Republic of China Presents It to the Government of Macau SAR ", and "December 20th, 1999", the Macau S.A.R.
