The travel routes within the Huangshan Scenic Area are primarily categorized into the Yuping Direction, Yungu Direction, and Taiping Direction. For the Yuping and Yungu routes, visitors must enter the scenic area through the South Gate, while the Taiping route requires entry via the North Gate. Below is a concise overview of these three routes.
South Gate (Yuping Direction)
Start with an optional cable car ride for a bird's-eye view. Then, aim for Lotus Peak for a 360-degree panorama. The challenging climb is worth it. Don't miss the iconic Welcoming Pine. Trails are steep but offer great views of rock formations and pines.

South Gate (Yungu Direction)
The long cable car ride shows rock - pine combos. Enter the cloud-sea region. See the imposing Black Tiger Pine. Trails are more gradual, leading through pine forests.
North Gate (Taiping Direction)
Begin in a peaceful, less-crowded forest. Seek out Shixin Peak & Songlin Peak for a unique view. Catch glimpses of Taiping Lake from some spots. The terrain is more forested and wild, for an off-the-beaten-path feel.
