Day 1 Stroll along the town
You may live in the Jogiwara Road area with many hotels the night before. After breakfast, walk to visit the Tibet Museum. The road leading to the museum is full of outdoor equipments, souvenir shops, Tibetan grocery stores and restaurants. If interested, you may go inside and have a look. The trails around Tsuglagkhang are very quiet, suitable for a stroll. Lungta Reataurant, a Japanese restaurant, is highly recommended.
Day 2 Trekking to the nearby forest and mountains
Find a local Tibetan guide and go to a nearby mountain for a day of trekking. From the east of the town, follow the only mountain road for 4 hours, you will reach Triund. From here, continue walking for another 5 kilometers to the top of the mountain. At night, you can camp on the top of the mountain. This is a great place to see the stars.
If you plan to go back to the town, estimate the time for the round trip beforehand, and try to return to the town before the sun goes down. The mountain road is not easy to walk, and it will be very dangerous if it is dark.
