- Gergely KTianmen square, forbidden city and mutianyu great wall 1 day tourWe were staying in beijing for only 1 day, so we decided to book the 1 day Tianmen square, forbidden city and mutianyu great wall tour.
The booking process was super easy and we got the confirmation straight away.
On he big day, they picked us up from the hotel with a small bus. Our tourguide, Kevin was a really nice person. He was very knowledgable about the history and the sights and happily answered any questions we had.
10/10 would book this in the future. - Damini HThe Great TourI took the private solo trip for 3 days, with Rocky my guide.. he was absolutely wonderful. He told about the history about the sites we visited, what I liked the best was the information given... it was like he was narrating a story. Which made the experience even better. Sure thank him for the beautiful photos too. Thank you so much to him and strongly recommend him.
- Mark HHighly recommended tour and guideWhat a fantastic day, Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City and The Great Wall. All three were more than we had hoped for but made all the better having Bruce as our guide.
Bruce gave us all the historical facts but with some fun as well, he was excellent.
The booking process was smooth and Bruce called us the evening before to confirm the meeting time.
I would highly recommend China Travel Guide and Bruce, without them the day wouldn’t have been anywhere near as successful as it was. - Ruchi SGreat Experience with Travel China Guide (Kevin)Our trip to Forbidden city and the Great Wall of China was excellently managed by our guide Kevin from Travel China Guide. He made sure we get all the details of the places we were visiting and also provided the historical details making it a very interesting and memorable trip. Day well spent in knowing the heritage and history of China. I highly recommend Travel China Guide if anyone wants to plan a day trip to Great Wall.
- Mary LThe Best of BeijingWe had a wonderful informational tour of the Great Wall and the forbidden city with our tour, guide Selena, from Travel china Guide. - Shirly TPleasant trip with a pleasant, experienced guideI love Xi’an the best among the cities visited so far for its vibrant, colourful lights in the evening and its rich historical sites. This experience is made richer with a pleasant, experienced guide, TracyYu, who is well versed in Xian’s history n culture, explaining things in fluent English.

- J Jpersonal insight about ShanghaiShanghai was the final destination on the small group tour I joined with Travel China Guide back in September this year. The itinerary indicated that the tour in Shanghai was set for one day; yet, I was eager to discover all that this vibrant and developed city, one of the largest in the country, had to offer.
On the first day of the tour ( the next morning as the tour arrived Shanghai at night ), however, the typhoon Bebinca, which hadn't been seen in the past 75 yeas, unexpectedly made landfall in Shanghai. Despite the impending severe weather, the sky was moderately breezy. Our knowledgeable tour guide, Martin, was able to guide the tour strolling on the historic Bund waterfronts promenade where most of the colonial-era buildings lining up along the Huangpu River. We also visited the classical Yu Garden, known for its architecture reflecting the former rich rank, and explored the former French Concession - Tianzifang, where the old ancient Shanghai contrasts with modern establishments just across the street like Starbucks, Peet's and various trendy shops.
Based on the itinerary, we were supposed to visit the Shanghai Museum and enjoy a river tour on the Huangpu Rive to view the towering skyscrapers in Pudong across the Bund. However, the activities were called off due to increasingly heavy rain and strong winds. Unexpectedly, Martin announced to everyone that we would receive a small partial refund for the cancelled activities. I was truly impressed and appreciated for this policy implemented by Travel China Guide, and I commended Martin for following through with the agenda.
For most of the tour members, it was a brief day in Shanghai as they prepared to head home, but for me, it marked the beginning of a solo adventure since I had planned to extend my stay in the city for few more days after the tour.
Indeed, Shanghai is a lively metropolis, one of the largest and most populated cities in the country. It is a city blended with Eastern and Western cultures, with traditional temples nestled among modern skyscrapers. Jing'an Temple, while not a major tourist spot in some tour itinerary, is easily accessible via the Metro and exemplifies this blend. I just want to emphasize how easy it is to navigate the city by local transportation like a local. Also, I was remarkably impressed that I went from Shanghai to Suzhou in just 30 minutes by bullet train; this quick travel was made possible by the high-speed rail introduced about two decades ago.
The Shanghai city's modernization over the past decades is clearly reflected from its growing skyscrapers. Across the Bund in Pudong, is the IFC building which is conveniently located near major attractions like the Shanghai Tower, Jinmao Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center and the iconic Oriental Pearl TV Tower, all are easily accessible via Metro or the hop-on-off double-decker buses. At night, this is the place showcases the panoramic view of the vibrant lights illuminating from the various skyscrapers.
As a newcomer to this lively city, I felt thrilled with each location I explored. It's a safe city with police presence almost everywhere. Thanks to my phone's travel plan, I navigated like I was at home, using apps for translation and maps. While cash is accepted, mobile wallets like WeChat and Alipay are much more convenient.
In summary, you'll find some historical sites that have become quite commercialized in this bustling metropolis, yet their historical charm still can be seen. If you enjoy exploring at your own pace, Shanghai should definitely be on your travel list . Alternatively, if you prefer a guided experience, Travel China Guide comes highly recommended. We also had time for lunch at an excellent Chinese restaurant chosen by the tour company. We concluded the day with a tour in the historic bazaar area and a walk along Nanjing Road in the evening in amazing autumn weather back to our hotel on the People's Square before leaving to the airport.
The whole day was made more enjoyable and informative by the energy, historical storytelling and good sense of humour of Ms. Sophie Lee. Her experience, enthusiasm for the city and its future as well as the care and exceptional service she provided to her tour clients (myself and 2 friends) definitely came through and was very well received and appreciated.
I'm already thinking about my next trip to see this amazing city and hopefully stay for a few days to be able to explore more of the city and visit the neighbouring towns.
I highly recommend Ms Sophie Lee to anyone who is this thinking of visiting Shanghai whether it's your first time or not as she will definitely be able to suggest and help you explore more gems of Shanghai Less - ChocoTeaWonderful Classical Garden VisitWe had a very enjoyable day. We went to two different Classical Gardens. One of grand scale and lots of visitors and the other smaller and less crowded. The contrast allowed us to better appreciate the beauty and tranquility of classical Chinese garden. Our tour guide Ryan is knowledgeable, thoughtful and attentive, which enhanced the experience.

- LennyGreat experienceThe tour agency does a great job helping organize tours in various places and cities in China. This river cruise was no exception. The scenery is spectacular, unlike anywhere else in the world. The boats are quite comfortable, and the upper deck is large enough to accommodate all the tourists willing to spend time outside to soak in the magnificent panorama. Lunch provided on the boat is quite decent, with an option to purchase some extra items, which I greatly enjoyed local freshwater snails. Our awesome guide Samantha took over from the lovely Lola in Xi"an, and picked us up and took us to an absolutely incredible hotel. It was gorgeous, like drop dead gorgeous. We had a chandelier, a chaise longe, balcony, the mattresses and bedding were like clouds, bathroom incredible, and I say all that that as a person in a cast with a newly broken leg! It was like being a film star in a film set. Breakfast was amazing, especially for me as a vegan. The food was incredible. Took a tiny bit of explaining and a chat with the chef, but then once we all understood each other, there were more wonderful things to eat than you could imagine. Vegetables and tofu cooked in sumptuous ways. All for way, way less than a night than any travel lodge in the Uk.
So then we got picked up in the morning and off to the boat cruise. Like I am from New Zealand. Takes a lot to impress me with scenery obviously, right? But this was astounding. And we cruised the shores with bathing water buffalo, if I had not had this cast, I would have jumped in and swum with them. Water buffalo have exceptionally beautiful nostrils. I know this as a vet. There were cruising birds of prey, eagles, cranes, huge butterflies. Enormous fish leapt in the river. I thought they were dolphins, but they were gone by the time I got my binoculars out. Local people from the villages tootled around in sadly plastic versions of traditional bamboo boats, but navigated big currents and river challenges with huge boats and only a bamboo pole, that me as a kayaker with a kevlar paddle would have really worried about. They have and will always adapt. Water people. And you would think there would be lots of people. There very few people we saw were tending water buffalo, although the water buffalo were so off doing their own thing, people fishing in traditional boats( drawing a veil over that as a vegan!) I saw horses swimming in the river, all alone, no bodily constraints, just paddling for pleasure with each other. Those amazing spectacular limestone mountains looked untouchable but our guide told us that there are climbing clubs there. I so want to join one of those clubs and climb one of those incredible spires to heaven. Back at home, Samantha told me to watch The Painted Veil, 3rd time watching it! Thank you Samantha.:-) it was mostly filmed in the River Li years ago, and it's still untouched. This is such a beautiful untouched, remote, easily accessible and accessible in a relatively eco friendly way, beautiful part of China accessible even with a broken leg! Less - Robert DAmazing Guilin experienceWe had an incredible time hiking through the Longsheng Rice Terraces and the karst peaks outside of Yangshuo. Our guide Arthur was the best! Very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly! The scenery was sublime, and Arthur's knowledge of the area, the history and the culture made our experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour!
- Susana CGuilin ReviewThe views were amazing! Guilin is one of the best spots in China. The Li River cruise was one of the highlights of the trip. I highly recommend the rice field trip in October after the national holidays to see the harvest colors in less crowded times.
