Suzhou is located in the center of the Yangtze Delta and south of Jiangsu Province. Built in 514BC, it is an ancient city with a 2500-years history. The unique characteristics of the past are still retained in present-day city. The double-chessboard layout of the city, with 'the streets and rivers side by side while the water and land routes run parallel', are basically still intact. Hello, it will be our first time to travel to Suzhou from shanghai. there are a lot of places in Suzhou that we want to visit but is it advisable that we rent a taxi? or what do you advice us to do? so that it will be convenient for us to travel within the city? it will just be a daytour for us then by afternoon we will be back to Shanghai. thank you!

If you only spend one day in that city, I think to rent a taxi is not necessary. You can choose a classic garden to visit, if you're interested in. Otherwise to SIP for some sightseeing of modern appearance.

Hi, read that weather in Suzhou area is very bad (cold, wet, thunderstorm) now and may be so for some time. Is it advisible at all to visit as a tourist now?

Yes, the weather is bad currently due to the cold wave which covers all of the China from last week. But, it will be finished soon. So, you could come later. However, the best season to visit this place should be Spring and Summer.

I am in hangzhou & i want to visit Suzhou .
pls. let me know from hangzhou , how can i reach there & is 2 days are enough to visit important place in there.

Transportation: at Hangzhou East Bus Station or Hangzhou North Bus Station, you could catch an expres bus to reach in 2.5hours.

Yes, two days is enough for visiting. One day, you could visit 1~2 of the classic gardens and the Guanqian Street. The other day, you could take a bus to the Tiger Hill.
